Brushless Static Excitation System for Synchronous Motors
Brushless excitation synchronous motors are currently widely used as power drive equipment internationally, offering advantages such as compact design, simple circuitry, reliable operation, convenient control and low maintenance requirements. In particular, they offer distinct advantages over the brushed synchronous motors currently widely used in industrial settings in China, where the excitation current is supplied via a pair of ‘moving contact components’—carbon brushes and slip rings. They completely eliminate various motor faults caused by poor contact between carbon brushes and slip rings, as well as long-term wear of the carbon brushes; notably, they do away with the need for regular maintenance and replacement of components that are prone to arcing and and electrical sparks, enabling brushless excitation synchronous motors to be used in special environments requiring explosion-proof, dust-proof and corrosion-resistant features. Consequently, their application is becoming increasingly widespread in industries such as mining and mineral processing, petroleum and chemicals, representing the future trend in the selection and application of synchronous motors.
